An internal corporate video used to educate new employees of the Specsavers corporation. It is used to inform staff of the company’s history, important business facts and other relevant information, whilst staying upbeat and motivational.
This project was inspired by a Volkswagen television advert in which an artist drew on a scrolling paper whilst having a camera above filming everything. The footage was then sped up to reveal the adaptions of the VW brand over time and into the future. Being a much smaller internal video, the budget did not allow for an elaborate film studio setup. A similar style was depicted by hand drawing individual elements and batch scanning them to create digital artwork files that could be revealed using a sketch wiping effect in time to the pre-recorded voiceover. This effect gives the illusion that the story is being created as the paper shuffles along.
This was an exciting approach to creating a corporate video, and used a very different method to anything we have created before. It was much more intensive than the simple whiteboard animations that are often produced, however the result was a much more artistic and organic representation of the clients brief.
